Oriental Jasmine Black Tea is a rare find for all jasmine tea lovers! Traditionally, only green teas and white teas are scented with jasmine. During the process of making this tea, tea buds get scented with the jasmine flowers a total of 5 times, each time replacing the used jasmine buds with new ones.
The flowers are picked in the early morning when petals are still closed. Once harvested, they are kept cool until nightfall. During the night, jasmine flowers open, releasing the exquisite fragrance, and the scenting takes place.
Snow JasmineĀ was named for the pale white down that coats the leaves, resembling fresh snowfall. The base green tea is Gan Lu, or sweet dew, from Mengding Mountain in Sichuan. Young leaf buds were handpicked in early spring, pan roasted, finished, and stored until summer jasmine season. In total, our Snow Jasmine received six rounds of jasmine scenting. The result is a sweet and intensely aromatic tea with wispy leaves. When steeped, they unravel to reveal delicate young leaf buds and an intoxicating bouquet of sweet nectar, lily, and jasmine.
